01 / How it works
You shouldn’t have to spend weeks wondering who is working on your account, or what happens if you never get it back.
Authorize Sociable through each supported platform’s own login. We receive an access token, never your password.
When monitoring flags a possible takeover, confirm whether you’ve lost access. We open the recovery case and work through platform business channels.
For an eligible, verified takeover, the account’s recovery status at day 7 and day 21 determines the payment owed by Cysurance.
The recovery timeline
Both windows run from the Incident Time defined in your agreement.
If access has not been restored, we submit the incident record to Cysurance. Recovery work continues.
If the account is still unrecovered, a further $20,000 becomes payable. That’s $25,000 in total.
Recovered after day 7? You keep the first $5,000. It isn’t an advance.
Determined on fixed dates, with nothing for you to file. Both stages are set out in section 7 of the member agreement.
02 / Your connected accounts
Connect as many accounts as you have on supported platforms. Six are live at launch, with more on the way.
Your audience, DMs and brand relationships.
Your page, groups and business presence.
Your professional network and pipeline.
Your channel, subscribers and content.
Your shop and membership community.
Your storefront and digital business.
X, Threads, Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitch, Reddit, Discord, Substack, Patreon, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, Gumroad, Etsy and Shopify are on the roadmap. Founding members get new supported platforms at no extra charge as they ship.
Keep two-factor authentication on, and keep your connection to Sociable active. Where a platform lets us see two-factor, we check it. Where it doesn’t, you confirm it when you connect. Payment eligibility pauses while a connection is down, and resumes when you reconnect. Confirm lost access when we flag an incident.
Existing hacks and platform suspensions aren’t eligible. The warranty applies to verified takeovers after enrollment and the protection start date, subject to the agreement.
One paid incident per member in any twelve-month period. Related takeovers count as one incident, even if several connected accounts are affected.
03 / Founding membership
One annual membership brings together account monitoring, hands-on recovery and the Cysurance warranty.
Unlimited accounts on supported platforms. Two fixed payment stages for an eligible unrecovered takeover, with one paid incident per member per twelve months.
Provided by Cysurance and governed by its own benefit terms. TransUnion runs the helpline and member servicing; CyberScout handles remediation and identity restoration. Member helpline: 800-721-6235.
Credential monitoring and security tools for the devices you use to access your accounts are included with the paid membership.

Why Sociable exists
In October 2022, someone close to James lost a social account and never got it back. Finding help was difficult. Finding a product that owed them something if recovery failed was harder.
After seventeen years in insurance and building three agencies, James spent the next four years working to bring that product into existence. Sociable is the result.

Cysurance. Cysurance is the cyber insurance company behind this warranty. It owes you the payment and it processes and pays the claim. The warranty is backed by Cysurance insurance programs and fully reinsured, so the money is there before you need it. You also get the people. Sociable runs the monitoring and works to get your account back. TransUnion and CyberScout handle remediation, chase money that was taken, and restore your identity. You reach them through the portal or at 800-721-6235 and a person answers. Most situations are resolved before a payment is ever needed. If an account is taken and cannot be recovered, Cysurance pays you $5,000 at day seven and the remaining $20,000 at day twenty-one.
No. Sociable is a warranty and service agreement, not an insurance policy, and you are not an insured. Sociable handles monitoring and recovery. Cysurance is the obligor, meaning it owes and pays the cash Remedy. The included identity protection has its own benefit terms.
Almost everyone thinks something already covers this. Homeowners and renters policies cover your house and your things; a social account is neither. Business policies pay when physical property is damaged; a hijacked login isn't a fire. Identity theft protection watches your credit and your SSN, not your Instagram. The platform will try, but owes you nothing if it can't. Recovery services charge $500 to $3,000 to try and refund only their fee. Meta Verified is $14.99 a month for a support line. None of them get the account back on a deadline, and none of them pay you if it's gone.
Confirm that you’ve lost access through the Sociable incident flow. We assemble the record from monitoring data and manage the submission to Cysurance. If information is missing, we’ll ask you for it. That can affect payment timing. You do not need to calculate your account’s value or document a financial loss to set the fixed payment amount.
That is part of the takeover, not a gap in it. A connection the attacker cuts does not pause your eligibility, and losing the connection is one of the signals that opens the recovery case. The pause only applies when you disconnect an account yourself and leave it disconnected.
Suspensions, bans, restrictions, demonetization and other platform decisions are excluded. The cash Remedy applies to eligible, verified unauthorized takeovers, not every reason an account becomes inaccessible.
The member agreement says your named Cysurance warranty and coverage schedule are emailed at enrollment into the protection program and available in your console. Protection is scheduled to activate November 1, 2026. The warranty form is part of your agreement. If it has not been issued by December 1, the agreement provides for a full refund.
An incident that began before enrollment or the protection start date is not eligible for payment. You can still tell us what happened. The story form is for sharing your experience and is not an active emergency recovery service.
Yes. Cancel before November 1, 2026 for a full refund. After that date, cancellation stops renewal and your plan runs to the end of the paid year. Cancel from your account or by emailing james@get-sociable.com.
Sociably Hacked
James is collecting account takeover experiences for a podcast and for the record. You don’t have to buy anything or come on the show.
Reported examples, not Sociable customers or endorsements. Outcomes and losses are specific to each report.
The owner's personal Facebook was hacked on Valentine's Day, possibly after she connected to Wi-Fi while her daughter was in the hospital. The attackers removed her as an administrator of her bakery's page and put someone else there instead.
She had spent three years building that page to 2,100 followers, promoting daily specials, charity fundraisers and other small businesses. She sent Facebook documents proving she owned the business. Foot traffic fell about 30 percent, and she missed Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras entirely.
"They first locked me out of my account and then accessed my business page."
WDIV Local 4 · Apr 2026 ↗The owner was putting together a fundraiser for a North Carolina winery hit by Hurricane Helene when a message came through Facebook. Fraudsters took over her social accounts and about $10,000 was stolen.
She rebuilt her Instagram from zero on a new account. It is back to a little over a thousand followers. She says she feels disappointed in herself for putting people she loves at risk. A security expert in the same story said nobody should beat themselves up over it, because the entire deck is stacked against a small business.
"It's struggling to death but we're having fun."
WWNO New Orleans Public Radio · Jun 2025 ↗A VTuber's channel of 600,000 subscribers was hacked by crypto shills and taken offline. Creators told reporters they want the platform to protect them, but the platform's own accounts were getting hacked too.
Tubefilter · Aug 2025 ↗McDonald's Instagram account was hacked by promoters of a memecoin. Followers who trusted the account were scammed out of roughly $700,000.
Bloomberg · Aug 2024 ↗Robinhood's CEO had his X account hacked and used to promote a token during a memecoin frenzy. Running a public company is no defence against this.
CoinDesk · Jul 2026 ↗Attackers tricked Meta AI into helping them steal accounts, and ordinary Instagram users were locked out of their own profiles. No business, no brand deals, no following required.
BleepingComputer · Jun 2026 ↗250 founding places · $99 a year
$99 today, then $99 a year until you cancel. Protection starts November 1, 2026. Full refund if we're not live by December 1.
