This keeps happening

Six major social media hacks from the last two years.

A bakery, a restaurant, a Fortune 500, a chief executive, a creator with 600,000 subscribers and a wave of ordinary Instagram users. The only thing they had in common was an account somebody else wanted. Open any of them.

Swipe for more →

Not one of them got a dollar from anybody. The platforms tried, the policies didn't apply, and there was no deadline by which anyone had to fix it. That is the entire reason this exists.

What's actually at risk

Your login is the cheapest thing you lose when your socials get hacked.

Getting locked out is an afternoon of frustration. Everything that comes after it is the part nobody thinks about until it's happening to them.

Within minutes

They harass your friends and family

Your contacts see a message from you, so they open it. Clients, colleagues, family. The scam works precisely because it's your name on it, and you can't warn a single one of them from the account you no longer control.

Within hours

Whatever they post, you're stuck with it

Every post, DM and comment goes out under your face and your name, and screenshots outlive the recovery. People have lost clients, jobs and reputations over things an intruder typed.

Within days

Your lead pipeline vanishes

Leads, client threads, and referrals all live in that account. It goes down and they go with it, and nobody tells you what you missed.

Then weeks of nothing

Platform support answers in 10 to 15 days

There's no number to call at Instagram or LinkedIn. You fill out a form and wait, with no case number and no owner. TransUnion puts the average first response at 10 to 15 days, and that's before anyone starts fixing it.

Before you scroll past this

You probably think something already covers this.

Almost everyone does. In four years of having this conversation, the most common reaction by far is that surely somebody pays for this already. Here's what people name, and what each one actually does.

"My homeowners or renters policy."Covers your house and your things. A social account is neither.
"My business policy."Business interruption pays out when physical property is damaged. A hijacked login isn't a fire.
"My identity theft protection."Watches your credit and your SSN. It has nothing to do with your Instagram.
"The platform will sort it out."They'll try. There's no compensation if they can't, and no deadline by which they have to.

Not one of them will get the account back, and not one of them owes you a dollar if it is gone for good. That is the entire reason this exists.

Just want to keep one account safe? Connect one account and we watch it in real time and tell you the moment something changes. If it's taken, you get one recovery a year, worked by us, and you can name someone to take over your account if something happens to you. No card, now or ever.

No second account, no $25,000 payment, and no identity protection. Those come with the warranty.

What happens

So your social was hacked this morning. Here's what we do.

You don't have to notice it, report it, or chase anybody. The only thing you ever did was connect the account.

This morning

We see it

Monitoring picks up the signals that mean someone else has control. You hear from us, usually before you've noticed anything.

Same day

Recovery starts

A recovery case opens automatically and we go to work through the platforms' business channels. You don't file anything and you don't sit in a support queue.

Days 1 to 6

We keep at it

Most of this would be out of your hands either way. The difference is somebody is actually on it, and you can see exactly where it stands.

Day 7

You get paid, and we keep going

If the account still isn't back on day seven, that's the first determination and Cysurance releases $5,000. We don't stop working it. If the account is still gone at day twenty-one, they release the remaining $20,000. Nothing for you to file either time, and nothing for you to prove.

Questions

The ones worth answering.

Is this insurance?

No. Sociable is a warranty, and what you hold is a service agreement with us. We monitor your socials and we handle the recovery. If we can't get the account back, Cysurance pays you fixed amounts on fixed dates. Cysurance is the cyber insurance company behind this warranty and it owes you that payment. The warranty is backed by Cysurance insurance programs and fully reinsured, so the money is there before you need it. You are not an insured and there is no process for you to work through.

When exactly do I get paid?

Twice. Day seven is the first determination, and if the account isn't back by then Cysurance releases $5,000. We keep working the case. If it's still gone at day twenty-one, they release the remaining $20,000. You don't file anything either time, because we already have the record of what happened. The exact payment windows are set out in the member agreement, which you see before your plan activates.

How many socials can I connect?

All of them. There's no limit, and we'd rather you connect everything, because the more we can see the earlier we catch a takeover before it spreads. If any one is taken and we can't get it back, Cysurance pays you $5,000 at seven days and $20,000 at twenty-one. One recovery case paid per member per year.

Which platforms are included?

Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Fourthwall and Whop are live at launch. TikTok is right behind them, and X, Threads, Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitch, Reddit, Discord, Substack and the rest of the creator payment platforms are in progress. Founding members get every one of them free as it ships, forever.

Who's actually behind this?

Three companies, and each one has a job. Cysurance stands behind the warranty and pays the claims, which is what makes the payment real rather than a promise from a startup. TransUnion's platform runs member servicing and the identity protection. CyberScout, a TransUnion company, handles identity remediation and dark web monitoring. Sociable builds the monitoring, runs the account recovery, and holds the service agreement with you. Available in all 50 states from launch.

What's the identity protection?

Every plan includes $2M identity protection, dark web monitoring that tells you when your credentials show up somewhere they shouldn't, a VPN, and restoration specialists you can actually call if your identity gets misused. It's part of the warranty, not an upsell.

What's the beneficiary feature?

You name the person who takes over your accounts if you die. Platforms have almost no process for this, so accounts and any money sitting in them tend to just freeze, and families spend months getting nowhere. You name someone now, they accept, and we handle the handover. We call it succession.

What do you need me to do?

Three things. Keep two-factor authentication switched on for any social you connect, since that's most of what stops a takeover in the first place. Keep the connection to Sociable active. And when we flag something, tell us whether it was you. If the connection to us drops, that account stops being eligible for payment until it is reconnected. Two-factor is a condition of the warranty rather than something we can see from our side, so keeping it on matters. Monitoring and recovery keep running the whole time. The member agreement says all of this plainly rather than hiding it in a clause.

Does it work the second I sign up?

There's a short activation window when you connect each social, so we can establish what normal looks like on that account before we start covering it. It's per account, so anything you add later carries its own. After that it's live. One thing to know: an account that was already compromised when you connected it isn't eligible for payment on that incident. We will still help you get it back.

Do you need my password?

Never. You authorize Sociable through each platform's own login screen, the same way you connect any other app. We hold a token you can revoke yourself at any time, from the platform, without going through us.

What if the platform suspends my account?

A suspension or terms-of-service action by the platform isn't a takeover and doesn't get you paid. Sociable is for the case where someone else takes control of an account that's in good standing.

Why buy now instead of waiting?

Founding members pay $99 against a $299 launch price and keep that rate as long as they keep the plan, including every platform we add after launch. It closes at 250 members or September 30, whichever comes first. If we don't launch, you get every dollar back.

Who is behind this

You are trusting us with your accounts. Here is who we are.

Nobody has built this before, so it is fair to want to know who is asking. Between us we have run insurance agencies, built cyber products at Marsh and Swiss Re, and shipped software for thirty years.

James Moran

Founder and CEO

Seventeen years in insurance and three agencies he built from nothing and sold, at Allstate, Nationwide and Farmers. In October 2022 somebody close to him lost an account and never got it back, and when he went looking for what you buy to fix that, there was almost nothing on the market. He spent the next four years calling carriers, more than thirty of them, and every no came back the same way: it's new, there's no loss data, come back once somebody else has written it first. Cysurance became the first to say yes.

Sociably Hacked

I've spent the last four years on this because the stories kept coming back the same way: it happens fast, nobody helps, and nobody pays. I'm collecting them properly now, for a podcast and for the record. You don't have to buy anything or come on the show.
